How To: Modernize your Bathroom on a Budget

Looking to sell your home and need some interesting eye catching elements to help the sale?  Or maybe you just bought a home and are looking to update the old shabby bathroom into a relaxing retreat.  Well, these may be expensive endeavors if you want to totally transform your bathroom, but in the these hard economic times, who’s got extra cash to do that?  Not me.

So here are some inexpensive, easy and fun ways to update your bathroom in weekend!

1. Paint.  Everyone knows a fresh coat is a instant way to make a room look clean and crisp.

2. Clean, Bleach, Repeat.  Old bathrooms may have tile that is too expensive to replace.  Instead, clean it well and bleach it to give it back it’s fresh “out of the box” glow.  An old tooth brush may help here, with the grout cracks.

3. De-clutter. Get rid of exposed toiletries.  Put them under the sink or in a closet.

4. Lighting.  Allow some natural light to come in.  Take down the dark curtains and put some sheers.  You could even cut an old twin sheet in half to create some thin but functional privacy.

5. Add more space.  To your shower that is.  Traditional shower curtains/liners can be boring.  Replace it with a hookless shower curtain with a curved shower curtain rod.  Arcs and Angles sells many different styles and even a retro fitted bar that adds 30% more elbow room to your shower.  Now that’s cool!

6. Light a candle.  Adding a fresh scent such as lavender or chamomile can actually change your mood, relaxing you every time you step into your new haven!

Creativity comes out of a lack of resources…don’t let money stop you from adding much needed pizazz to your bathroom today!
