But the silver (shower curtain) lining to that cloud is–surprise, surprise–my shower. The cold, cold water in the heat of the summer is nothing short of refreshing and fabulous. Now my roommate and I have different tastes when it comes to decorating, but we can agree that, because our bathroom walls came lime green, there’s no use in adjusting the bathroom to our tastes, but we adjust our tastes to the bathroom. There’s talk of embroidered shower curtains to balance the bold green with some elegance; or perhaps the ever-tasteful tropical shower curtain. Sometimes we let our minds get carried away into the land of polka-dot shower curtains. I mean really, who’s to argue?!

Double Swag Shower Curtain with Fabric Tiebacks

Shower drapes frame your shower or tub much like curtains do a large picture window. Most double swag shower curtains consist of a liner, then a fabric curtain with another curtain that is split in two so that you can tie them back to create the swags.   These holders usually come with the curtain and are the same fabric, but you can get creative and buy ones that are metal and are simple, or decorative.

Whichever fabric or color you choose, there is no denying the class and luxury that a double swag shower curtain can add to your bathroom environment. 

     1. Find a shower curtain that fits your personal style.  There are many to choose from, so whether you go with fabric or plastic, what matters most is that you keep this one on the outside of the tub.  Also, it shouldn’t touch the ground, so adjust your rod to the length of your curtain.

     2. Invest in a shower curtain liner. This can coordinate with your curtain, be clear, solid or could even function as the curtain itself (For those with a claw foot or ceramic tub, this looks great).  See Below picture for an example.

Regardless of your choice, make sure the liner goes on the inside of the tub.  The point of this one is to catch the water, so keep it in the tub at all times.

When you are finished with your shower draw the curtains closed to let them dry more effectively.  Also, keep the bathroom door open, and turn on the intake vent when you are finished with your shower to help dry any leftover moisture in the air and bathtub.  The less moisture trapped on the curtains, the less likely mildew with develop.
